Pr. Marie-Noëlle Delyfer, director for SMART clinical activities, is university professor and hospital practitioner in ophthalmology at Bordeaux University Hospital. Her areas of expertise include the diagnosis, and the medical and surgical management of retinal diseases, including vascular retinal diseases. Her research work focuses on epidemiology of retinal aging.

Prof. Jean-François Korobelnik is Professor of Ophthalmology at the University Hospital of Bordeaux since 1999, head of the ophthalmology department. Pr. Korobelnik is involved in clinical research, which mainly focuses on eye disease epidemiology (E3 Consortium), macular diseases (age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema) and retinal detachment.

Dr. Cécile DelcourtFHU SMART

Dr. Cécile Delcourt is epidemiologist and senior researcher at Inserm Center U1219, where she leads the LEHA team. She is internationally renowned for her work on the epidemiology of eye diseases (esp. age-related macular degeneration, cataract and glaucoma), especially in relation with risk factors such as smoking, light exposure and nutrition. She manages the POLA and Alienor studies and heads the European Eye Epidemiology consortium.

Pr Thierry Couffinhal is Professor of Cardiology at Bordeaux University and head of the Exploration, Prevention and Care Center for Atherosclerosis (CEPTA), Cardio-thoracic section, at Bordeaux University Hospital. He leads INSERM Unit U1034, specialized in vascular exploration of transgenic mouse models, exploration of major signaling pathways in vascular biology and thrombosis during development and disease (post-ischemic angiogenesis)

Stéphanie Debette   is Professor of Epidemiology at University of Bordeaux. She is currently t he   Director of the   Bordeaux Population Health research center   (University of Bordeaux – Inserm U1219) . She is also practicing neurologist at the  neurology Memory Clinic  in  Bordeaux University Hospital . she co-leads the ELEANOR team on  molecular epidemiology of vascular and brain disorders. Her research focuses on the genetic and environmental determinants of stroke, MRI markers of brain aging, small vessel disease, and cognition.
